  7.                 munications equipment.  Damage caused by im-
  8.                 properly installing this modification may cause
  9.                 ICOM to charge for subsequent repairs to the

  16.  Subject:       C8 and C9 occasionally fail due to oscillation
  17.  
  18.  Information:   C15 and C16 are added and the value of C8 and C9
  19.                 are changed to prevent RF oscillation and failure
  20.  Procedure
  21.  
  22.   1.  Disassemble the amplifier and locate C8 and C9 on the main
  23.       PA unit.
  24.  
  25.   2.  Remove C8 and C9 .12 uf chip and replace with .02 uf 500V
  26.       ceramic (ICOM P/N 918-06119) keeping the leads as short as
  27.       possible.
  28.  
  29.   3.  Add C15 and C16 .02 uf 500V ceramic (ICOM P/N 918-06119) in
  30.       paralleled with C8 and C9.  Again keep the leads as short as
  31.       possible.

  33.   4.  Reassemble the amplifier and check for self-oscillation at
  34.       full power output.
